Thread: Alum bar/Sypteic stick

What is an Alum Bar and is it used for the same thing as a Sypteic stick I don't have a clue can someone help me

Some folks use the Alum bar like a styptic to stop little nicks yeah ... I tend to use the styptic to stop little nicks then after a shave rub the alum bar over my face like an aftershave ... it leaves your face nice n smooth ..
Think it's made of some sort of potash ( it's written on the side of mine ) ..

they make some of this into stick deodorant which works by making the armpits in hospitable (chemically ) for the lovely odor producing bacteria... but you will still sweat ... just not stink as much.

you guys are all mixed up the bacterias don't go anywhere
think of it as a birth control for bacteria

Actually an alum bar is potassium alum. The stuff that goes under yoyur arms is usually ammonium alum. You wouldn't want to put the ammonium type on your face. Also the syptic stick is a little different. Some extra ingredients to stop the bleeding better.

All the "crystal" deodorants I have seen are Potassium alum, just like the shaving stores have.
