Thanked: 11A list of people offering honing services would be a great resource I think. The list could be linked from the honing section and include the usernames and locations of those offering their services. One would simply PM a mod to get their name added to the list.
It would be great for newcomers to the forum, like myself, who don't quite know who's who yet.
As for UK based honers, I know poona is one hone for hire, and there are more who just don't spring to mind.

Thanked: 1I know Poona is taking a break to concentrate on studies, but if you can wait for him I can vouch for his services. He'll do a good job no matter how much work is involved. I have also had decent edges from theinvisiibleedge.co.uk

Thanked: 84Hiya Welshwarrior, I bought my first razor (to use) from Steve at theinvisibleedge. I think the edge/hone is good, it seems smooth and very sharp. His vintage shave ready razors are the cheapest way to get a shave ready razor here. I thought it would be nice to see who else is lurking about who does the business with the stones
I'm going to have to get a Norton 4000/8000 though, as I see so many razors about for peanuts, that I'd like to bring back to life without it costing a fortune.
Are you from Wales then?

Thanked: 1Yup, I'm from Cardiff, but I now live in Belfast for the time being.
That's exactly what I did - bought my first razor (which turned into a few) from Invisible edge before I started learning to hone.

As far as UK honers go, I only know of Poona and the guy at invisibleedge currently.
I used to do a few razors myself, but I only have a very small collection now and I just don't get enough practice these days to be able to offer a honing service and promise 100% satisfaction.
Alex and Bruno are based in Europe and both do honing IIRC, so they could be worth considering. Also with the exchange rate like it is, it's quite a resonable price to have Lynn hone your razor - even though he's based in the USA.

Spearmint soap Steelforge? That sounds great.
Where'd you get that?

I do some honing every now and then. However I won't accept half hollow ground/wedge style things anymore. Since they're usually in bad shape they take too much time. I've got 4 lying around from other people at the moment and I can't seem to get one right (It had a frown and the other 3 all have smiles. The one with the frown I've been working on for over 3 hours now. My time is simply worth more than that. So if it's a hollowground in good shape that you want honed.
I'll be your man.
If it's either heavy or approaching a restoration.....find someone else to do it for you.
