HandAmerican
Since I joined SRP, I have been hearing all kinds of good things about the products offered by Keith at HandAmerican. The only problem for me was, I could never really access his website.
Yesterday, I was reading a thread that was talking about where to get Chromium Oxide pastes. - yes, Diamond paste is available, but not so with Chromium Oxide (green) paste. One member chimes in and says "HandAmerican", and gives the web address. I go there, and sure enough, there's an order page for the Chromium Oxide paste(liquid), Silicone Carbide wet papers, 60K Chrome Oxide wet papers, etc., etc.. (presently this screen is not up). So, I place my 1st order ever with HandAmerican. I express in an email message to them about the fact that I couldn't access the web site...............
This AM I get a call from Keith. We had a very nice talk about my problems about accessing all his products. He tells me that sometime next week he will have a new site in place and there will be a lot of new and exciting items available. We had a very nice talk. In fact, I had just finished my morning shave when he called, and I told him how GREAT it was. Ha! He asked what razor or razors I used - This started me talking about, not only my razors, but how much my honing skills had evolved, and that even though my shaves, my razors' edges were all great, I still wanted more(better, higher, greater...!). Sound familiar? So I am telling him that I am researching Japanese natural stones. - the expensive ones, and he says to hold off 'till he gets his site back up. He spoke of Black Arkansas stones that the Japanese purchase more of the Arkansas stones than their own. Keith tells me they are experimenting with, spraying them with Boron Carbide to product a super medium as a final polisher.
I mentioned that I was reading a thread, started by Alan Davis (I think) about the use of ashes on the linen material of his strop and how it had improved his edges, etc., etc.. - Well, Keith commented that the best ashes comes from human crematoriums. The key being the high carbon content of the human ashes. Anyway, I thought it interesting that a number of SRP guys had chimed in and had comments about the fact that carbon was a key to good ashes. Keith said that they are working on a high carbon source for ash material. -
I'm rambling and I need to quit.
The point being, I just wanted to tell you all to check Keith's Internet site, www.handamerican.com, in a few weeks. He says it will be much, much improved.
