watched it as it aired (no sleep for the rad infected )
Had some interesting stuff in it, but was a propaganda piece about
how much better Muck3's and Electrics are over any of the old razors.
They DID however cover sharpening and stropping straghts, so it wasn't a total loss.

Thanked: 586I was disappointed myself but the closing words were asking, "What could be better than a shave by a barber with a sharp razor, surgeon steady hands and badger bolstered lather?" Although the show did rail on about the competition between Gilette and Schick it then came full circle right back to the good old straight razor.
The stropping shown was horrible technique that would be guaranteed to roll the edge of the beautiful razor the guy was using.

Not Listed!
I have National Geographic, but "A Closer Shave" is not listed on their programing.
That's too bad!

Oh, if those are the closing words, it sounds like it's the same programme as they broadcasted a few months back under the title "Secrets of Shaving". There's a torrent of it here.

My kinda guy! I try to stay away from tv as much as I can (besides watching good movies). Never had cable either which I think helped me to want a more tv-free life.
Sounds like a show I saw tonight on the History channel here in my hotel. I think it was modern marvels or something about the sharpest tools on earth. It had a section about razors and started with straights (showing some honing and stropping) but progressed to show cartridge razors being made. It started talking about how much sharper they are, etc. Load of bull. The diagram they showed of the cartridge razor blade's three bevels made the final edge look like 140 degrees or so.
Thanks!!!
