Thread: My Shave In San Diego

Dudes!! I wanted to regal you with tales of my travels to San Diego this past week, or at least one part of it.

I finally got some time away from the conference and everyone else, and was wondering around Downtown. It's my feeling that in order to understand a city, to feel the lifeblood of a city, you have to get on foot and just wander around. No taxis, no cars, no trolleys.. Just your two feet..

So I stumbled upon this little Barbershop school, around 5th Ave.

Not one of the real swanky metro places like you usually find around downtown. But an old fashioned barbershop.. Students were of every race and creed, lots of customers in the same fashion.

Haircuts were $5 and I think shaves were about the same. So being the adventurous young buck that I am, I strode on in.

Got a young chinese man who had been going to school there for 6 weeks, and only had two weeks left. Really nice guy.. Got a shave from him.. The shave was so-so.. Not great, but not bad either..

I should mention that all the while Cypress Hill was playing in the back ground, and one of the customers was pontificating on the best way to grow weed. So we're talking real urban down to earth place here.

The highlight of the whole thing, was I got him to shave my head with a straight. I've shaved my face with a straight many times, but never my head. Just to difficult to do on your own. They were feather straights of some kind, I couldn't see the mfg label. But he did a great job on the head, and it was something unique.

If you ever in the neighborhood, stop by and have them shave your head with a straight. It'll be an experience

I shave my head every few months, then let it grow back.. Wash, rinse and repeat...

I just bought a headblade a few days ago, and really like it. Makes things easier..
