Default I have found a goldmine!!!!!!!!!!

Just come back from food shopping, stopped in at a Chemist (us=Pharmacy) Mr Newbury's, Newton Road, Mumbles, Swansea - no web site
Well I think he must be a wet shaving fan, in his rather good shop he had -

    Brushes
Kent brushes, synthetic, bristle, super mix (horse hair and badger!?), pure badger and lastly a huge super badger brush.
    Culmak synthetic, black dimpled, bristlebrushes.
Also two other makes, one make bristle only, the other make bristle and badger brushes.
Prices for all the brushes were very reasonable.

    Hard Soaps -
    Culmak
    Palmolive
    Erazmic
Crabtree & Evelyn (a couple of flavours)
He had two other well known quality makes in a few flavours too and they were all priced UNDER what I have seen on the net.
EG the Crabtree&Evelyn soap with rosewood bowl was £9.95 !!
He also had shaving creams to match (same brand and flavour) as the hard soaps with a few additions too. One tube of cream that caught my eye as I had never heard of it before was Ingrhams (spelling?)
    I bought a stick of Erazmus(65p) and a "puck" of Culmak soap(£3.35).
I have only smelled them so far, the Erazmic was a new smell to me and I really, really like it.
The Culmak I instantly recognised as the soap my grandad smelled of, even though I never paid any notice to what was in his cabinet when he was alive. I always though he used Palmolive!!
Now I know where to send the relatives for my birthday and Christmas

Sounds like you have found, dare I say, a true outpost of Civilization! ("Civilisation" to non-US folks. ) If my travels ever take me to Wales, which I hope they do some day, I will look for it. Meanwhile, congratulations!

I couldn't believe it, the shop has been there as long as I can remember, he has loads of staff (two of my daughters school friends mothers work there) and I haven't even mentioned the "proper" after shaves and potions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!
Yardley for men? anyone?? and other Spanish sounding liquids..........
If you do come to Wales please visit the Gower, I think you'll like it. Mumbles (where I live) is a large village at the edge of Gower.
I'll give a full report of the shops inventory of the products that would interest us.
He has NO dedicated straight razor items though, but plenty of DE related stuff.
    Well done Mr Newbury!

A while ago someone commented that horse hair would make a brush too floppy, after I mentioned seeing one of horse, pig and fox IIRC.

Maybe I should invest in one, if other countries make them with horse hair too!?

That could be my Tweener brush before I get a good silver tip.

Nice to find a little shaving oasis selling normal products. They are few and far between now days.

Sometimes, TK Max sells Taylors products at half price and John Lewis has some "no name" shaving soaps for £2.10p which are every bit as good as the big brands which cost £8. Just a tip if you are ever passing one of these shops.

Yes they do but not as a stock item.

It's like all of their stock, you never know what they will have in from one day to another and you have to search to find stuff.

But just last week the store in Slough had tubs of shaving cream and tubes of shaving cream.

You have to look amongst the soaps and perfumes and if you are lucky.

    Happy hunting.
