Here's a razor that oldblades did, and it's just fantastic.. I think it's an example of 'new and improved'. And just damn stunning too.

I doubt something like this could have been produced when straight razor shaving was in it's heyday. But then mabye we're in the process of actually ushering in the great days of straight razor shaving?

That's interesting, because I never imagine that someone could be a razor collector in an era that razors were common or were the only "tool" to shave with.
No one here is 100 years old to say this more accurately, but razors were probably seen just like a tool equal to a fork and a knife, very different from nowadays that because they're rare and expensive and we're all eccentric collectors!

The most wonderful thing our community could achieve was to turn razors from rare and strange collector items into wonderful cream-of-the-crop shaving experience tool available to everybody.

When David and I were talking about this we were sitting in a room that had an abundance of razors all together.... From Vintage, Vintage Restores, Semi-Customs and Full Customs all right there laid out in front of us to drool on.... The progression was plain to see, and startling to my eyes, how far and how fast we have taken this chore in the morning to an art form... I can't wait for the next 5 years to see where our hobby takes us..

And we were sitting in a room with a lot of young guys too. And I don't say this negatively about our older members. But I think the relative youth of many of the people beginning to shave with straights says someting about where this thing is going.

When I came to the gathering, I expected to be the youngest person there by far. I was shocked to see that my age group was probably the majority.
