XXX Synchronicity
Since every time I dip below 2 posts per day for longer than a week, somebody wonders where I've disappeared to, I've decided to give you all the heads up on this one so that when you hear the inevitable question arise from someone who hasn't seen this thread, you will be able to answer in my absence or at least point them here.
I'm going to be out of town on business for a few weeks starting Sunday. I've been contracted (and catch this, this is rich) by Project X Theatre to perform in their summer X-Fest in the park up in Kamloops. What are the chances? Anyhow, they all seem like real nice folks so I predict a great time working hard to please audiences nightly in A Midsummer Night's Dream and The Compleat Wrks of Wllm Shkspr (abridged). As a result of living out of town I cannot guarantee regular access to internet and at the least, as a result of rehearsing hard throughout the month of July, I won't have much free time. The upshot is that you're unlikely to catch me around here for a bit. I'm sure you'll all do fine without me. If y'all get bored feel free to fill in with an annoying quip from time to time in my absence.
I'll definitely be taking my W&B sway back with me and because I'm going to be gone for so long, I've decided to take my Illinois 361 strop for daily use. If the SRP Menthol Tobacco AS Balm arrives before Validator comes to join me with Little Man, I'll get her to bring that along too, but other than that, I've still got to decide what else to bring along. I'm light infantry trained so I never want to carry anything unnecessary, but I also believe in being prepared so I don't want to leave myself short handed either. I've got a few more days to work it out.

Nice! any good roles in the works? I've done lots of abridged (from 50 minutes all the way down to a 2 second hamlet) it's always a blast.
Have fun!

I'm the Daniel role in Compleat Wrks so I'm Romeo, the Friar, the Nurse. I'll be Horatio, Polonius and Laertes in Hamlet and other than that, just the hodge-podge that the show is. I'm really looking forward to getting turned into soup as the Rapist in Titus and stalling for the other two guys at the end of Act 1. I plan to have fun with the hand puppet "Mousetrap" in Hamlet as well.
I'm already off book for Egeus and Cobweb. I'm actually going to see what I can do about making the former look dangerous, a quality I often find lacking in performance.

So youre light infantry , Iknow the drill. Its always a challenge between whats necessary and weight. If you go too far or too little either way you screw yourself. Oh, the memories, Oh the misery.

Update
Kamloops is beautiful.
Rehearsals are mental! It's been years since I've worked this hard. 5 days out of 6 I spend in rehearsal for the Complete Works and we are always moving. My castmates are great. One is a twenty something out of Uni. with great instincts and a very strong work ethic. The other is an Italian-Canadian with a strong background in Comedia Del Arte. The director is a lovable slave driver with a great sense for comedy. We're having a great time. Just getting off book and layering in the props and costumes. Anybody familiar with the show knows how busy that is. There's these guys, but honestly, we're working it much more.
I only see the Dream cast once a week, but they're all nice folks.
Here's the bad news:
I dropped my W&B on the floor the first morning and now I can't shave with it until I can get it home to my stones because it has a minute nick in the blade. CURSES! I've got my Wolstenholm wedge and the Wapi has been providing yeoman service!

Opening night tonight for Dream and Marlow's stage debut! The director has decided to put him in as the Changeling Child. Should be fun. We open The Works tomorrow. I can honestly say I don't know when I've worked harder. We've had some good previews and expect some good houses. If the reviews are decent we'll get even better attendance.

PS The bad news today is that my charango is gone. We have replacements, but the sentimental value of the instrument cannot be replaced. I picked it up in Santiago Chile 5 years ago while down there with my wife.Last edited by xman; 07-24-2008 at 11:01 PM.
