Never ask them anything, never assume what they tell you is correct.
They are concerned with chemicals, poisons, etc... that could spill, burn or explode. Not knives, razors, etc.....
What IS hazardous from the USPS website:
Some examples of commonly-used items restricted or considered hazardous under USPS regulations include:
Perfumes
Nail polish
Flea collars or flea sprays
Aerosols
Bleach
Pool chemicals
Paints
Matches
Batteries
Fuels or gasoline
Airbags

Mercury thermometers
Cleaning supplies
Items previously containing fuel

Fireworks

US laws seem to be very tight
In my post office, the guy just hands me the customs declaration and I can write on it whatever I want!!

Thanked: 0Shipping overseas, I'll write any description the buyer wants. I think a knife is best described as a gardening tool and a razor as as personal grooming tool.

I checked whether I could use Fedex, DHL, UPS, ... for sending straights to the US, but as soon as I mentioned the R word, the conversation ended. Razors are considered dangerous weapons, as are nail polish, glue, ...
They have a special department for shipping those items, but they charge a LOT.
But the postal offices in Belgium don't require you to say what's inside.
Just send and receive address, and that's it. They've never asked, and I never told.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

I received a package of 3 razors that I bought on ebay. The shipper put the razors in old boxes (not one of them was an original box), then put them in a 8" X 11" padded envelope. Im shocked that any of them made it to me. One of the blades was sticking out of the envelope when it arrived in my mail box. Fortunatly the blade was just barely sharp enough to cut the paper, and not the mail man.
It amazes me how some people dont take the time to think about what might happen in transit.
