    Default Travelling Straight

Greetings all. Pretty new shaver here with only about 20 shaves-but loving it and this site.

I was wondering, does anybody fly with their straight razors? That is in carry-on baggage?

I am flying across the country (U.S.) and something tells me in a post 9/11 world, the straight is not going to make it past security.

Has anyone had problems with a straight razor going in checked baggage?

    Thanks,
    ~Robert

I would not try to carry one in your carry on baggage. I have traveled with my straight razor in my checked baggage across the US and Europe and never had a problem.

I take one in my checked baggage and have traveled entensively in the US and abroad.
I also take an unloaded DE in my carry-on baggage just in case. I pack my DE blades in checked or if I am not checking baggage then I don't worry about it. You can always find DE blades no matter where you are travelling.

You will not get past security with a straight, thats for sure, not unless they are sleeping while at work..
You will even have problems with a DE (with blades in it) in your carry on! At least the regulations here in Europe are that the only razor blades accepted are the cartridge types, no straights or DE's.

If you check in your luggage, well then you hare home free.

I rarely fly anymore, but when I do my straight goes with me in checked luggage.

I work in the aviation industry and believe me - you won't get anywhere near an aircraft with a straight. I'm in Canada, so it may not be exactly the same regulations, but I was stopped and searched because I forgot to take my screwdriver out of my laptop bag. A straight?? No friggin way...

If you know where you're going to stay, and hate to check a bag as much as i do; you can always mail your razor ahead of departure.

I wouldn't even try carry on, but I do travel a lot and enjoy taking a straight with me. My favorite straight to take with me is an all stainless dovo as it's fairly rust resistant. 2nd fav is my wapi. I always have them checked though.
