Thanked: 4Red Latigo Scraps, anyone?
If anyone is interested, my local leather shop has a bunch of Red Latigo scrap pieces for sale. There are a lot of pieces about 16 to 20 inches long, between 5 to 8 inches wide, and about 8 to 10 oz. leather.
I am able to get the strips for $3 each and some other scraps (I would have to pick through them to find pieces wide enough for a strop) for $5 a pound. I bought a piece yesterday to experiment with and made a nice very basic strop out of it.
If you are interested in me picking some of these scraps up for you and mailing them to you, please PM me and we can work something out. Let me know what minimum requirements you have for the leather (width, length, etc).

Thanked: 4As an update, I went by there yesterday and found lots of decent pieces from the price per pound bin, but a lot of the pieces in the other bin werent quite as nice. However, I also found out they get the scraps from the factory every so often, so the next time they have some I will let you all know again.
If you want something aside from the 1.5 to 1.75 by 16 to 18 inches, let me know and I will go see what I can find.

U.S. - Portugal 90 USD?
fpessanha - how much did you ordered? A ton?
Well, try negociating with several freight forwarders and ask for the minimum freight cost, depending on the weight and volume, you can get a good price if you choose to ship by boat, for example, instead of shipping by air. This will take longer, naturally, a couple of weeks longer, maybe.

Thanked: 4OK, I have pretty much picked the leather place clean. I am mailing out the orders I currently have tomorrow. Some pieces I have left at the moment are all 1 5/8" wide, very straight, and the following lengths:
- 20"
- 18 1/2 "
- 17"
- 18"
- 12" (starts tapering quickly in width at 12" but is really 22" long. the taper goes to like 1/4" width)
- 19 1/2" (edges at one end need to be trimmed to be straight)
I will sell each piece for $2 including shipping (hopefully that will cover the shipping!)
