I second that motion, I'm a noob from Brisbane and i'm also looking for any other members in Australia who could give me a hand in getting my razor into "shave ready" condition. Is there anyone out there?

I can't say I'm a honemeister, but I can put an edge on a blade. Those in qld should message jimbo, he hones for a few barbers.

    Default Canberra?

I'm in Canberra and keen to get into straight razor shaving. I've been looking for a decent second hand ready to shave razor and strop.
I'm keen to learn to hone for myself, but to begin with a ready to shave razor is likely best, and also to insure it's properly made and can be honed correctly unlike some of the cheap chinese ones out there that are probably not made correctly so when you try to hone them it doesn't work right.

I am keen to do this, and don't want t start off with bad experiences that cause me to give up!

Thus I want to start with decent equipment. I'm still looking around for a local suppier of decently priced shaving creams and brushes, as I'd previously just been using canned cream and a synthetic brush.

    Any help or advice around?

btw, I still need to try to start off as cheap as possible and work my way up more as just cannot afford any large expenditures...
