Thread: Best Sharpening Stones.com Warning!

I ordered a coticule from them:

-I placed an order on October 2nd
-They billed my credit card on October 3rd
-I contacted them via phone on Oct 17th and 21st for an update on the order
-I followed up those calls with emails
-No one has returned my calls (as promised during my telephone conversations)
-My order has not arrived
-The web site claims same day shipping

I now have to dispute the charges to my credit card and wait 30 days to get my money back.

Caveat Emptor!

As already advertised by JimmyH-AD, I warmly recommend Howard's website, or the Ardennes coticule's one: they both provide great stones and excellent service.

I've viewed that web site in the past and it looks to be pretty reputable.

As the guys above have said, you are best to stick with forum guys who have earned a reputation for both quality and service and from what I've seen, their prices are always very fair.

I live in England and it's not always economic with carriage, import tax and handling fees to buy from the USA, but I can let you know the reputable European guys if you ever need to know. But to be honest, you can source really top quality goods locally. You only need to ask on the forum and you'll get a list of options. all reputable.

Let us know the outcome.

I ordered on 1 September the 2 Norton's stones from Best Sharpening Stones.com . Despite stated 1-2 days standard delivery term I don't get any response until 6 September. Fortunately Yesterday I have found this topic and decided to make an urgent call. Today I was notified by email that my stones were shipped with a priority service. So may be things are not so bad assuming affordable prices.
