    Default These forums are amazing!

i have to say THANK YOU to everyone that runs these forums. they are the absolute biggest step forward i have had in my straight shaving since making the decision to buy a razor.

the reasons i really enjoy this place. i belong to a couple different forums, including B&B, shave my face, and some astronomy and motorcycle racing forums. i do enjoy the others (and i won't get into what i don't enjoy about any of them as that isn't the purpose of this post) but i have been reading through many post on here , old and new, trying to learn as much as possible, and i must say it has been a rare occasion for me to find a discouraging or negative post. not to say everyone agrees with each other (i have read some of the more political post) but even then people argue in a normal and objective way. to me this is great and a refreshing reminder that there are normal people out there that just want to discuss things and not bash each other.

a good example is when on another forum a member posted about discovering he had prostate cancer. i literally posted how sorry i was to hear about his situation and some definite issues to be aware of (ie diet, testosterone levels, exposure to xeno-estrogens) and how in combination with his doctors advice and treatment he has a great chance to make a full recovery. the guy who posted it thanked me and asked a few questions. i then had three senior member chime in about how absurd it was and disrespectful for me to post about health food sugar pills when the guy had a real problem. that really hurt as i thought i had actually helped out a little.

i guess with computers being our medium of communication (and having no body lauguage, tone, facial expression, etc) things can be twisted and taken out of context pretty easily. SRP seems to do a good job of guiding things back and keeping things relavant and interesting. plus i can now shave quite confidently with a straight razor and have been getting the best shaves of my life (excluding when i was twelve and got a cartridge razor for christmas, peach fuzz isn't fair).

Thank you again to everyone that makes this place happen.

I join you in your appreciation, Wes. I agree that this place is happily free of the flame fests which can occur online. The members have worked continually to create a place of gentlemanly discourse and for the very large part that is exactly what happens.
