MN Get Together pics with names..........
For some reason under the get together and meeting are of the General Forum, you can't add pictures?? The paperclip simply is not there, but yet it is in the General tab here. I'm not sure why.
Mods, please move this to the MN Get Together posting if you can.
Here are some more pics with names to go along; descriptions will be under the picture rather than above:
This is "Smelty", some of Mike Blue's steel in it's first phase (OK, I took liberties to name it here, but I don't think he'll mind).
L to R: Akady (Alex), Purvis (Sean), Clehman67 (Charles), Dusty79 (Dusty)
L to R: Dusty79, Bruce (with pipe), Randydance062449 (Randy Tuttle) tightening a pivot pin.
Ok, clockwise around the room: Purvis (Sean) with his back to the camera talking to Terry Knipschield (Terry is an accomplished knifemaker from Rochester, MN. One of Terry's folding knives can be seen in Purvis' photos.), Just behind Terry's head to the left is a bit of Saintpaultom (Tom), Chlehman67 (Charles), Akady (Alex) in the green coat, Utopian (Ron) in the red plaid shirt, TedMeissner (Ted), Dusty79 (Dusty), Bruce (Bruce), Randy.

Thanks to all the generous vendors previously mentioned in the MN get together thread!
Having HAD myself, I simply had to post this pic of one of Utopian's coticules. It's a natural, and it blew me away. Scale is hard to tell from the picture, but the coticule (yellow) layer alone on this stone is as thick as most other coticules in entirety! The thickest coticule I have ever seen. Impressive and would last countless generations.Last edited by ChrisL; 11-16-2008 at 08:34 PM.

L to R: TedMeissner seated with his back to us, The Man! Mike Blue seated facing us. Even though he's sporting a beard, he shaves/trims with a straight, Dusty79, Bruce
Ah....Forge pics. This is one of Mike's friends, Greg. He's using a hydraulic press to cut that billet in two. Just like butter. The power hammer is the green machine in the background and to the left, the belching beast of fire shooting out its flames about 2 feet. Outside temperature 30 degrees. Even though a door was wide open to the left of the forge, the inside temp was probably 80-85 degrees.
A Bader in action.

Thanked: 995There will be other times. Terry and I have discussed a more formal grinding demonstration. That will also lead to polishing and restoration techniques. There is still a great deal of ground to cover. I have to sit still and listen to Randy and Ron do their honing thing too.

Thanked: 8Chris,
I see a total of 3 pictures of me. Seeing as I charge a 300 dollar apperience fee, times that by 3 carry the 2, add tax. That will be 1000 dollars or a barbers hone.
Great pictures.

Very cool pix Chris. Nice to be able to put faces to names. I bet it must have been a lot of fun.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
