Default Should I sell off my extra hones?

My hone inventory so far is as follows:

-- 2 Cushioned Strop barber hones (grit ~4K)
    -- 1 Gem hone (grit ~6K)
    -- 1 Lithide hone (grit ~8K)
    -- 2 Swaty hones (grit ~8K)
    -- 1 large Chinese 12K from Woodcraft
-- 1 large old natural hone that someone gave me (haven't played with it, no idea what it is)

The only hones I really use anymore are the C.S. hone, Swaty hone, and Chinese 12K. Should I sell off some of these hones I don't use? Or hang onto them just in case? (In case of what, God only knows).

    Default Thead is locked...

This thread is locked until further notice.

It is a little close to selling in a place other than the vendor's section or the classifieds and we don't allow that anymore. If it is deemed that this thread is okay, it will be unlocked.

    Thanks

Well, Gem's and Lithides are kinda hard to come by any more. Which could argur either way.

If you haven't yet tried it you might try finishing on the Lithide instead of the 12K and see if it works for you. One of my razors really likes this hone and seems to come off of it almost silky feeling while most of my other razors feel the same off of it or a swaty.

I'd hang onto the spare Cushion Strop and Swaty, Mostly to have them for a gift if a buddy ever got into the hobby. Theyd be a great intro to honing with barbers hones for anybody.

That's a good point. All my extra hones put together are worth about $60 so maybe it's best to hang onto them. If my HAD progresses at the present rate, they may end up building me a mausoleum out of my hones

I would save them too. I have given out several barber hones as gifts to friends who are shaving noobs: a shaveready razor and a hone make a great gift set!

I say keep them just in case...nice to have something on the backup and you dont wanna be regretting any decisions.
