Thanked: 335You gotta be kidding
Ladies Only!!
We have a forum here which is gender specific?? What fashion of insanity is this?? Where is the Gentlemen Only forum?? Let's get real people. If there are things which only women may partake in, there a certainly other things which only may be viewed or discussed or are only of interest to men.
Oh, forgive me, that's right, the poor little darlings are special and we big strong men need to treat them as special as they are.

Thanked: 9That's funy, Bruce
Actually, I understand why there may be a need for something like this, so I am not complaining. But really - some men might also be embarrassed to discuss something in the open forum and may also deserve a more private place.
Anyway, before this I didn't think much but now I'm really curious what's happening behind the closed doors. I'm sure it's nothing extraordinary - like rash here and this there, what not - but we can't be sure, can we
Cheers

I have to say that I'm not overly in favour of a closed off section of the forum - the spirit of the forum has always been openness and exchanging ideas freely. My understanding was that if you wanted a private conversation, you PMed someone
But I guess that this is the price of our own popularity - even when I joined, some 15 months ago, this was a much smaller community - a village, which has now grown to become a city - with all of its advantages and trappings. Soon it will be a metropolis, but hopefully, that day will not come too soon.
Anyhow, I can appreciate the difficulty of the mods/admins trying to manage something that is ever shifting and growing, so while I don't agree with the idea, I will respect their decision.

I think he's got a valid point. In an age of equality, i constantly notice that equality only works one way. Hold a door open for someone & you're lucky to get thanked! Men do occasionally make the odd smutty comment, but i thought that the guys here were largely well behaved? Maybe we can trial our own section? Even if we don't use it much, they won't know that!

I'm sure the ladies could care less if we had our own private men's only portion of the SRP site (or maybe I should say I doubt they'd have an issue with it).
I actually don't mind a women's only area on SRP. I'm here to exchange conversation with friends first and foremost about straight razor shaving and all it encompasses rather than have posts infused with salacious banter which would occur more frequently if women here didn't have a private area to discuss things of a female nature.

+1 Though I have to admit I was very fond of this site being open and thoroughly masculine. I can see where the ladies would need a "powder room" to discuss things that are entirely feminine in nature without an audience, and we have enough women now that PMs would be far too restrictive compared to starting a thread.

It does seem to skip around one of the great features of this forum - the fact that everybody is very open. I'm not sure what having a secret society acheives other than to create barriers.
I am not saying I oppose the idea of a ladies only forum, I just feel it not wholly with the spirit of SRP to have a forum only available to specific members.
Private info can easily be shared via PM.
Now I just have to think what I would want to talk about in private with guys only!
It is summed up in one well known example.
Girl to girl - Does anybody want to go to the toilet?
Guy to guy - Oh, you go first I'll get the drinks in.
