Just saw this here.

God read Jimmy, but I can't believe he was going to quit. I kept waiting at the end for him to explain how he would never shave with anything else again.......lol

Just proof that some guys just don't have it in them to be straight shavers.
And by the way $75 for a haircut, you got to be kidding.

I would think it would be more difficult to start by using a Shavette like they all were rather than a true straight.
I need to start a class and charge $70 a head! Problem is, in my town of 3,000 I'd probably only get a few retired farmers and we'd end up just chewing the fat.

If I could figure out how to do it I would send the writer of that article a link to SRP. He might really get into it if he had the right instruction. Meanwhile I have to try shaving some balloons.

$75 for a haircut and a shave isn't that bad compared to $50 for just a shave at AOS! Now if that price included a beer or two...
When you consider the rent you have to pay in Manhattan now, there's no way you'll see regular barber prices anymore. Then you add the antique chairs, the metro appeal, etc - fuggedaboudit.
I'll have to stop in there next time I'm downtown, just to check it out.
