Yea, I have seen the pigeon with the olive branch
Today I was doing some christmas shopping with my wife.
We're walking past a shopping mall, and in the window of the shop on the outside I see a straight.
I was convinced that they were selling them there, my wife wasn't (she though it was ornamental) and we bet for a kiss
So I go inside, and it was a store inside a mall, selling things like perfumes, creams, ties, socks and other grooming stuff. And lo: I find a glass cabinet with a strop, brushes, some high end handles for disposable blades,... and 3 straights.
One was marked figaro (6/8 hollow) and had gold wash, but it was put on crooked. The other was a 'made in solingen' straight (11/16) and the third one I didn't look at in detail.
Now, as far as razors go they were nothing special: ok, but not great.
But it hit me that this was a very special thing. This is the first time that I've seen straights in a shopping mall, in a shop that had nothing to do with knives (or even shaving per se).
Back when I started with straights, it was impossible for me to find one. Only later did straights slowly make their way to knife shops and a rare few shaving shops.
And now, for the first time (for me), they are creeping their way into shopping malls.
One sunny day does not a summer make but I really felt that it is no longer impossible that straight razors will find their way back into path of the average shaver.
I don't think it is going to happen any time soon, and we sure as hell won't be able to dethrone gillette but perhaps the straight razor revival will really find the way to the lime light.
Apart from all the reasons why we are already doing this, maybe the economic climate is making people think on ways to prevent throwing a hundred euros (or more) worth of gillette cartriges per year in the bin.
Interesting times folks. Interesting times...Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

We can always add the environmental aspect also. Our efforts are cutting down on what ends up in the landfills.

Interesting way to work that, either way you get a kiss.

They sell Dovos (and Conk soap and brushes) at the Tobacco Lane near my house, and have for many years.
Their markup is horrific, but I'll still buy soaps there from time to time to encourage them.
