Default Dovo Prima Klang... Woo Hoo!

I just got a Dovo "Prima Klang" and am blown away! This is a great razor! I've read about this kind of performance from a well tuned blade, but this is my first time to experience it.

My history: I inherited an old Grant (probably my grandfather's) and had Lynn sharpen it... and it's pretty good! Then I got a new Timor razor that was OK, but seemed to refuse after a couple of days. I'd switch back and forth but finally decided to get something good... Only one shave so far with the Dovo, but it has completely surpassed my expectations! I might only shave every other day!

I Also picked up a Chicago 127 strop to replace my old nicked-up 206. The extra width makes quite a difference! Hopefully I won't ruin this one now that I've had some stropping practice. I still need to break it in a bit... the surface seems a little uneven, but maybe that's just me being ultra-critical with the new, extra-thin blade.

Just thought I'd share a newbie experience...

Funny name, that ("great sound"). So how does it sound?

When the blade isn't loaded with soap, and with a very light touch, it does in fact make a light ringing sound while shaving. With greater pressure and with foam on the blade it pretty much sounds like any other razor. Second shave this morning was awesome! I've never had such an easy shave and even some of the more difficult areas are totally smooth. I have no regrets about this purchase!

Yeah, the Prima Klang was my first razor, and I sharpened it myself! (In the beginning I could not do that with any other razor) Great Razor!

I have read several good reviews of the Dovo Prima Klang. Maybe I will give it a try the next time I purchase a razor. My Thiers-Issard singing razor jingles a little bit like cowboy spurs while shaving.

I have a Dovo Fritz Bracht 7-Day Set as well as eight individual Dovo's of various models....needless to say, I am a big Dovo fan and would highly recommend them if you are looking for a new/newer razor rather than a vintage one.

It is a singing razor after all. The term refers to razors with extra hollow ground. They are said to produce a resonant tone when used.

    Al raz.
