    Default Wrong Paddle Strop?

I recently purchased an extra wide paddle strop made by Thiers-Issard thinking it would be easier for me as a beginner. After it arrived, I realized that both sides of the paddles are rough in texture, making me think both sides are intended for use with paste. Am I correct? Or, can I use paste on one side and still use the other as a final strop before shaving?

Yes. Some strops have a smooth surface and others are rough. They both work.

Tony Miller told me he makes paddle strops have much more draw to them than regular strops, since the surface area of the paddle strop is so much less. This extra draw might make it seem more abrasive.
