Default Shaves at the cigar shop?

INteresting thing, i went to ship off some razors today. few doors down from the cigar shop is the packaging store (where I buy boxes before going next door to USPS), same owner as cigar shop. they know that I'm sending razors, two older ladies, we talk when I go in, they like seeing the blades. they say they are doing shaves down at the cigar shop.

I go down there, turns out that this is a barber that is just about a block or two away from the other barber I found out does straight razor shaves (for 8 bucks, but I've yet to try it). the shop is putting this on for their cigar club members. he's got the hot towels, brush. doing the whole thing. EXCEPT using a DE. shop owner was telling me that he can do it in half the time and with 20 people to go through it counts. I didn't want to interrupt the barber while he was working but the cigar shop owner told me he thinks that its bout 10 bucks and that he will use your straight.

I think I may have to try one of these guys out. probably the one I already knew about first, as he is a knife maker I have bought from before and is older (late 50's, early 60's) so likely has more experience. although probably they are all rusty.

just thought I'd mention it. surprising to me.

That's interesting. I'd rather be shaved with a DE than a Shavette type razor really. As long as you get proper lather and hot towels it sounds enjoyable. Makes you wonder why barbers use pseudo-straight razors at all. (As long as they don't use a cartridge razor.)

    Red,

You might want to ask if they will do the shave with your razor. I talked to my barber and he said was okay with me bringing in my razor and strop (the owner also concurred). To be honest, the shave I received was about as good as me shaving myself. However, I need to also mention that the barber shop is not really set up to do shaves either.
