Chat problem.
Hello guys,
I'm after some help. So last night i'm on the forum & there's not much going on with the threads. I'm about to leave when i notice that there are loads of people logged on! Well, they must all be having a great time without me in chat, I'll go there.
Open it & this is what i get:
[15:17] Connecting...
[15:17] Logging in...
[15:17] -- *** Looking up your hostname...
[15:17] -- *** Found your hostname, welcome back
[15:17] -- *** Checking ident
[15:17] -- *** No identd (auth) response
[15:17] Error : Closing Link: 127.0.0.1 (Connection Timed Out)
[15:17] Disconnected from chat.freenode.net
How do i get in fellas?
I want to chat too!

I didn't know how to even get to the back way, so by comparison you are a computer whizz!

Thanked: 271I had the same problem. The solution was to install Xchat and then change the port on your computer that it uses to connect. It turns out that the standard port is sometimes reserved by the hardware. I know this explanation is somewhat incoherent (I'm not that technical) but it will put you on the right path to the solution.

Sorry I can't help you much. I normally use a chat with my linux engine (pidgin) because it's more comfortable.
When I'm in my windows laptop it connects without any problems. You can try to connect with other client here is mIRC.
if that fails too like second did my wild quess goes to your firewall. Is it too tight? Let it allow srp.
