Thread: Where to get a razor honed in San Francisco?

Long story short, I have a couple straights that have been neglected for a while and both could do with a bit of a hone. Is there anyone in the SF or East Bay area that would be willing to hone two razors in exchange for beer/cash/sexualfavors/etc.?
I have a proper strop but would like to get a new edge put on these little ladies so I can start using them again. Life has been too safe and easy since going back to the Mach 3. Since I no longer need to shave everyday for work I would like to get back to my shave-twice-a-week-in-the-evening-after-a-run routine.

I am in the Walnut Creek area. I can help you out with those blades. If you have influence with Scarlet Johansen you don't have to worry about the beer.

Also to let you know there is a small group that will be getting together for a honing session and technique trading in April if you are interested in aquiring some skills.

Yeah Craig, totally down for a meet up in April. I was going to host this time around, but if things are already in the works, then all the better.

I also would like to be included in a get together. I live in the East Bay and work in the City. In four months of straight shaving I somehow seem to have accumulated a bunch of razors that could use attention that I currently lack the ability to provide.

Bjorn - Thanks for the kind offer. Ms. Johannsen's number was in my old phone which I lost so...beer or cash it will be.

Craig - I am definitely interested in attending if the date becomes finalized. Although my ability to attend will hinge on my work schedule I am quite interested in learning how to properly maintain my gear first hand from those who know.

I should also note that the member (Maximillian) who sold me one of my razors, a beautifully restored Halberd 5/8 hollow spike, has offered to rehone for FREE and take a look at another one of my razors so long as I pay for S&H! Maximillian - you're a rock star!

I live in Marysville, San Francisco is not far away. I would defiantly be interested in hooking up to learn some honing. I'm about three months into straight razor shaving.
