Thanked: 5Looking for a shave in vancouver...
Does anyone know of a place to get a straight shave in vancouver? I will be passing through going and coming from Bellingham WA the weekend of the 20th of Feb. I fly in on the Thursday before and fly out on the Monday after.
I dont know the area but I hope to find a hotel near the shop so I can get a proper shave on my way home to my wife

I heard there was a Filipino barber in Kerisdale (south Alma), but I don't know where exactly.

Thanked: 74Momentum Grooming is downtown, just off Davies street. They seemed knowledgeable when I was there, but I had just started wet shaving, so I didn't know anything.

Thanked: 0Eh all I am from Vancouver and am trying to get a good list of barbers that give straight blade shaves here in Van. I will slowly add to this as I get more detailed information and more shops. I will also try and get some info for supplies and sharpening as I HATE how much time I have had to scrounge around for this information and wish it had been easier for me to quickly find it. IF it is deamed that this be better placed elsewhere in the forum admins please do so and simply inform me where you put it so I can add to it. Thx
Rogue
PS. I am using some ads and some writeups by others to compile this information to start with so if its wrong please NOTIFY me ASAP and I will change it but over time I will PERSONALLY verify everything I put up here over time as well.
Momentum Grooming
Originally launched in 2004 as a brick-and-mortar extension of an online destination for high-end, hard-to-find men’s grooming products, Momentum owners Robert Graham and Graham Bingham expanded the next year by adding a full-service men’s barber shop. Named one of Canada’s best barbershops by Sharp Magazine, the specialty of the house is the hot-towel straight shave featuring exclusive-to-the-store Truefitt & Hill products. 1237 Burrard St., 604-689-4636
Farzad’s Barbershop
With its dark wood paneling, a few shiny, vintage Ducati motorbikes, checkerboard tile floors and club-style chairs, Farzad Salehi’s wood-beamed space gives off a relaxed, old-world feel that compliments his luxurious straight shaves. A 30-year veteran of the industry, Farzad’s basic technique includes a moisturizing massage, hot towel treatment, two shaves, a cold towel wrap to close the pores and a finishing massage with after shave balm. 1208 Homer St., 604-408-0060
J.D.’s Barbershop
The straight shave revival got its start in Gastown, in Vancouver any way, around the time that master barber Judah Down opened his doors in 2001. Polished concrete floors and a mural by local graffiti artist The Dark give the shop a sleek feel that appeals to the hipster crowd. Across town, J.D.’s second location caters to the CEO set, hidden away inside the member’s only Vancouver Club. 235 Abbott St., 604-331-8441
Male Essentials
Male Essentials is definitely a product of its geography — namely Granville Street. The room feels like part club, part man-cave, with over-sized dark leather couches and games on the big screen TV. A complimentary beer with each service helps keep that party vibe thumping. The shop also boasts an impressive online men’s grooming superstore with an exhaustive inventory. 655 Nelson St., 604-681-1911
Kitsilano Barbers
Just a basic old style barber shop with old style barbers (both female and male) out to use their many years of experience to give you a great shave. Friendly staff lots of experience. 2315 W 4th Ave Vancouver, British Columbia V6K 1P2 604-737-9803
Economy Barber Shop
Dino Arvanitis runs Economy Barber Shop in Kerrisdale he is an older Grecian gent that is no frills and just gets the job done. Good attitude and good old fashioned shave. 5665 West Boulevard Vancouver, BC V6M 3W7 604-266-6734
Others (Names to be found as I can)
There is another on granville street that is also very similar to Kitsilano Barbers old style with lots of experience, I can't seem to find it anywhere at present online but I will get the details to you ASAP
