Thanked: 488Another Rolls Razor
Early post WWII Rolls Razor
I found another Rolls for the collection. This one from what I understand is a post WWII since it has the single line in the middle of the case. I also found a Bakelite Rolls blade case with a new blade inside:-)
Just thought I'd share. Oh yea I also found an 8x10 old ad I'm going to frame.

Thanked: 488Thanks all. This one was $35 a little more since it's an older one and has the strop and hone which are in very nice shape. The Bakelite case with new blade was a separate auction and I paid $19 for it.
The last Rolls I got was from the 30's and was $17. There is a big swing in prices these days! Oh yea I do use mine and they really do shave well.

do you use your rolls hone to hone your straight razor(s) gunner?

I have never seen a model with the line down the middle. I was under the understanding that the early models had a stippled top cover.
Cool find.

Thanked: 488The ones with the strippled cover are newer than the single ones like this. This link will give you lots of info on these razors and a rough idea of dating them.

There are some links on this page that also take you to other info sources.
I've never used the hone for my straights but a good friend of mine does with very good outcome. I also made a mistake on mine. Mine is the Viscount model from just after WWII. My others are the Imperial 2 with the orange and black box which are some of the early ones. The number 2 has the Greek key pattern across the entire top. I'm still trying to find the very first ones with the pebble top.Last edited by Gunner777; 02-15-2009 at 04:54 AM.
