    Default Surf or Turf..... Scale ID.

    I have heard that whale baleen is sometimes used for scales on older blades. Does any one have any idea on how to tell the difference between horn and baleen?

    I've heard of whalebone for scales but not baleen. Thats a new one on me. Isn't the baleen kind of soft?
