ouch, I try to think of what will happen to me if I win an auction at a certain price.. then I calculate the worst consequence that I can handle... then I bid the price that will cause that consequence, or one less severe

I am really sorry to hear about you recent Ebay experience. I must tell you that I always feel intimidated by Ebay. I always tell people to stay away from Ebay but Ebay is like a magnet that draws people to it. I have had many problems and because of that, I have strong opinions about Ebay. I can say that among the many problems I have had bidding on Ebay, this has never been one of them. I typically bid an amount that I think is fair for the item and if I do not get it, which has happened many times, I never feel bad. I can count with the number of times that I wished I had bid a little higher. Perhaps the golden rule is: "never to bid more than you are willing to pay", regardless of whether you bid early or late.
Al raz.

one can get carried away when bidding on the flea-bay when not carefull. It's so easy to hit that buy or bid button.
Sometimes it even feels like someone knew exactly what your highest bid was gonna be when he wins that auction by $1.00.
I do always look at the shipping charges first. As much as I'd love to bid on a razor if I find the shipping charges to be excessive I don't even bother and continue looking.

Tough luck but what I want to know is why wasn't I the seller of that razor. I'd be raking in the bucks now.

Tough luck Brian but it might turn out to be a great shaver. Once I had a Schwinn Paramount bicycle that came to me with no head badge. A head badge for a vintage Paramount brings a good buck on ebay and I really wanted one.
I was prepared to go say $60.00 USD but in my haste when putting in my snipe I put a comma where I should have typed a period and I bid thousands of dollars. Needless to say I "won" the auction. I payed $125.00 for the head badge.
I told the seller what had happened. Not looking to back out of it but just for the LOL. He felt so bad for me that he included extra bicycle parts when he shipped the head badge.Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
