Thumbs up Cheers for hi_bud_gl !

Seven good reasons why Hi_bud_gl deserves a big thumbs-up for being a perfect example of the fine gentlemen one encounters on SRP:

    1. He started off like most of us (although a bit earlier, in the Yahoo group days): enthousiastic but largely unknowing, sucking in the wealth of information provided and occasionaly asking questions.

    2. He doesn't post very often and his posts are seldomly long, but almost always what he writes is spot-on.

    3. He's very friendly and helpful: he repeatedly honed newbies' razors for free, even though his first offer was met with more than a fair share of skepticism. He also often writes a line or two just to cheer up and encourage unfortune eBayers and first-time shavers.

    4. He's remarkably knowledgeable and very skilled: he's helped out several members, new and old alike, especially on hone questions. I bought a Fermarud Manganese Steel 4/8'' which I believe have a reputation of being right PITA's when it comes to honing them, and it's sharp to a bite - in his own words 'just shave ready' and 'not the sharpest razor' I would have seen. I do wonder what he'd have sent me hadn't I declined the offer to have it honed to the top of his abilities...

    5. He's very modest: his razors in the classifieds section are usually posted with 'condition' a grade below what you'd expect, and for rather humble prices. Also, he has a huge collection of Eschers and other hones, but it's always other members who mention the fact, almost, it seems, to his own embarrassment.

    6. He's a nice guy: he doesn't change the alias of his personal e-mail account because he lent it to a friend long ago he likes to be reminded of for old time's sake. He (it was you, wasn't it? I'm not sure - another thing you don't brag about) once did an unexpected vintage limousine clock repair in the middle of the night, even fabricating broken parts, so that the car could just make it to an important show in time (where it got 'best in show'). Likewise, you can ask him anything by e-mail and he'll answer quickly and patiently explains or refers to other members - whom he's never tired of praising.

    7. As a bonus: he significantly enhances the lure of this place by flavouring it with his own special exotic variant of English ;-)

I'll second that. He's a very nice guy in person too.

I have met Sham at the Mid Mo Meetup and agree to all you said about his character. I spent most of the day listening to his stories about the old country and enjoyed them immensely. We are going to have to meet up again and share bottle of Wadka.

I will second him being a great person to do business with. I ordered a razor from him and he sent me two no additional charge.

    P.S.

Both razors work great but I do prefer the wade and butcher bow.
