If you visit thrift shops, can you help?
I have a little request for the guys who like to hunt around antique/thrift stores. I’m trying to find a nice watchmakers lathe with the original accessories, but I’m having little luck. If you could keep an eye out for me and let me know if you find anything. The lathe is for my father – he used to own a nice old watchmakers lathe – but, it was stolen a few years back. I’m hoping to surprise him this year for this birthday!
Thanks for your help.

Cheers Chady. That's the kind of thing I'm looking for folks. Just so there's no confusion, these old lathes don't usually have a motor. My great grandfather used a violin bow to turn his!

That's a very specialized item. Trying to find that in a thrift shop is half way between slim and none. There are some guys on the web who specialize in watch makers supplies-used. Off hand the one I can think of if he is still in operation is dash-to do a search and contact him.
