Thanked: 2Too damn ugly
I like the shaving. Every day is an adventure ;-)
The straights are fun to collect.
(not fun to hone)
The problem is that I look better with a beard than with a BBS'ved face.
Goatee kinda, sorta works.
Did the chin whiskers only once with no mustache to honor my Mennonite forbears - not a good look for me.
So, now I have this great collection of shavers and I am just too damn ugly to use 'em.
(I do anyhow - can't resist the adventure)
So, should I just donate the collection and go the Grizzly Adams route or just deal with the face staring at me in the morning and live the straight razor dream?

I have the same problem, you have to look at yourself 10-15 minutes a day and everyone else has to see your mug all day everyday, it's their problem as I see it. Be sides it is a lot of fun making small children cry when they see you in public. Now if only the nieghbor kids would quit throwing stones.
It is easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled. Twain

Thanked: 4942We have had several members with beards and they used the straight for either shaving under the chin and jaw or for just the neck and under the eyes. Enjoy the pleasure of straight razor shaving any way you can. It really takes the chore out of shaving and makes it a pleasurable and fun experience.

Thanked: 3795Alternatively, keep your face covered, spend some time in the ladies section, and learn how to shave your legs!

For a couple of years I had a goatee, but then I just started to shave my whole face. At first I really didn't like the look, and my face looked so small! I know how you feel, you're not used to the face looking back at you from the mirror.
I don't think it's so much of a "I'm ugly" thing as just not being used to how you look without the facial hair! If you chose to keep shaving it all off, I'm sure you'll get used to it, and you'll feel the same way if you grow out facial hair again, except in reverse.
But even with facial hair you can still use a straight just as Lynn said. There's nothing better to use to get those nice clean beard lines than a straight razor!

Where's the before and after pics. Can't answer you question w/o pics.

well a beard should still be well kept, so you need to clean up the edges and the neck. If you've got a face for radio it is cover it or live with it. you could learn to shave without looking.

I'd be one of those. I've worn a full beard since 1996. But I do enjoy the most luxurious daily 15 minute neck shave and beard touch-up. I only have one straight, but I have 10 safety razors I use from time to time as well. I need more straights Keep the beard if you want it, and thoroughly enjoy shaving the rest!

Or you could split the difference and go with a razor beard. Or work with different styles of beards and see which one suit you.

What a disappointment. I thought this was a thread about Lynn.
