Look what got left on my door step!
Five very small rabbits. They are less than 24 hours old and without a mother. I just hope I can keep them alive (rabbits tend to die when abandoned at such a young age).
Wish me luck folks, it's up every 2 hours for feeding over the next week or so.

Oh wow good luck with that! I know with kittens a small electric blanket with a beach towel formed into a nest works pretty well. With it on low it will give them some heat and a sense of mom.

Oh man. Do you have a formula? Would they be alright with cow's milk? How will you keep them warm?
I recommend lots of physical contact.

Thanks for the support guys.
They have a nice box with a hot water bottle rapped in towels (though the bottle is only warm -- not hot).
You can't really give them cows milk; however, I'm having to until tomorrow. Then I'm going to give them kitten milk.
Eugh, it's pandemonium!

You're a good person to take care of them. I've lived with animals my entire life, and it breaks my heart when people don't give them the care and respect they deserve. Good on ya.
The best of luck with taking care of them, and be sure to post pictures if you have any updates!!

Thanked: 278Five!? You have your work cut out. Good luck.
I don't know if using a mechanical clock to comfort them is worth doing (the ticking sounds like a mother's heartbeat.) Best not to use an alarm clock, don't want to scare them by accident.

Quick Update: Everyone survived the night. They are all eating fairly well -- though a few like to have a good squeal in the process.
Ordered some Kitten milk from the vets -- should be here tomorrow. For the time being they are enjoying goats milk with a pro-biotic supplement.
They seem quite strong; however, looks can be deceiving. If they survive the next few days I will start to feel a bit more confident.

Good luck! My best friend and I found abonded bunnies when we were very young (maybe 7 or 8?). His dad (a doctor...not a vet, though) and my dad researched how to care for them, and most survived the first two days (5/6). We came home from school on Monday, and another had passed, so the Moms had called a local animal organization who came and took them...I wonder what happened to them and how they fared?
More recently, we've had some rabbits giving birth in our bushes in the back yard. It is very hard to keep my dog (beagle/aussie shp mix) out of them. We have had some disastrous and upsetting events.
