So far I've converted 1 of my friends to shaving with a straight. I had to restore a Genco EasyAces for him, and then i made a 2x24" latigo strop and using his grandfathers old shaving mug made the conversion in febrauary. Now we just need to find him a better brush and some really good soap and he'll be lovin it im sure. Got a few razors im restoring now as gifts for the hopes of getting a few more people into it.

Well just last night i had my buddy call me up and ask me about straight razors and were to get them. Of course i refered him to this website and told him about the amazing help you can get from the people on the website. My buddy was the one that originally went to the barber with me to get his first straight razor shave as well and ive been talking about it soo much that he finally gave in and is going to give it a shot. The only thing i find funny, is he is a actor and i can't wait till he has to go to some sort of acting gig with all kinds of razor nics all over his face.

i am working on a few people. i get them hooked with a nice brush and some good soap to use with their disposable, and then after using that and seeing how much better it is, they get interested in going whole hog.

I converted a co-worker from Sensor Excels to
DEs and then straights. He converted a friend of
his who went off the deep end into straights...
he owns at least 1 Zowada and probably won't
    stop.

I got my Pop into it of all people. He's always liked sharp objects, so it made perfect sense. He's got a better eye for good razors than I do, and I owe almost all of my best shavers to him. He asks me to try 'em out first, then comes over and asks for the ones I like the best.

He's also on the list: pavelaw.

Funny enough, I haven't converted anyone. My friends do think it's funny to joke about how dangerous they think it is and how I'm going to one day slice my throat wide open, though.

But honestly, the one thing I've learned thus far is just how happy people are with their disposables/electrics/etc. They honest to God do not see a reason to change, no matter what info I offer. They are perfectly happy with how long their cartridges last, and how convenient, close and comfortable their shaves are. They think it's great that I've found something I love, but see no point in switching.

Everytime I start to lay out the benefits, most people are still skeptical, basically combating each point (with legitimate points in their cases, like their shaves are close enough for them, they have no irritation or discomfort, etc, etc). Even if I get anyone vaguely interested, they then hear just how much a razor, strop, brush, and soap would cost, and find out it's way out of their "I'll try this once just for the hell of it even though it doesn't really interest me" budget, and then, on top of that, they hear how much longer it takes to shave, and how they have to learn it all over and do research, etc, etc, and have absolutely no interest in getting up that much earlier and putting in such effort for something they truly cannot see the benefit of in the first place.

So, long story short, I've found out that it really isn't for everyone

I do have one friend who told me he was really interested when I first told him I was going to try it. He's still intrigued and wants to try it eventually, but has been wearing a light beard lately and doesn't want to shave it yet. Eventually he'll be converted, though

I gave one of my friends in college a simple razor to try. He was always hesistent to try it because he was worried about having a slip up. I just told him to go slow and if he ever felt uncomfortable to just stop and try something else. Of course he gave it a try and now he's a devout straight razor shaver.

After shaving with one for so long and explaining how much I loved it, my sister asked me if she could try it on her legs. I lent her one of my razors and she said she loved how much smoother and closer the shave felt. She doesn't use straights exclusively for the purpose, but loves getting in the occassional shave with one. She asked me for one for xmas so I gave her the 4/8 henckels in carbon fibre; totally loves it.

Well, I haven't converted anyone yet to straight razor shaving, but I did convert one work colleague to try wet shaving. He bought me a Semogue brush and I gave him some shaving soap samples. His first impression was that it was really nice, much better, even if he still is shaving with a cartridge razor. The next step is to get him a straight razor.

It's all Steve's fault I have all those straights.
    It's a blast.

Something else, my wife blames you for losing the counter space in the bathroom.
    Just funnin.
