Razor infection
David,
You mentioned something about razor infection on the Yahoo group. The barber i went to also told me that i can get a razor infection if i cut my self with a straight razor.
Can you explain this a little better, what is a razor infection and how is it diferent from razor burn?
Thanx.

Third is just your ordinary scraping, floor burn type of irritation, usually from going over the same spot too much, or from a very dull razor pressed too hard, or from a razor with an uneven edge or one with a wire edge.
During the first week or two when someone starts shaving with a straight razor, the skin must adjust to the new methods. So even though the new user wipes the blade with alcohol and uses precautions, and uses a keen razor, they may still get a little redness.
Also, some people are overly sensitive to the ingredients in the new kinds of soap they may be using for straight razor shaving. This can cause a confusing rash-like outbreak.
But, HEY, it's all worth it in the end, right? (and for our Canadian fellows, I add, "eh?") ink: 8)

This is yet another reason that the alcohol based after shaves are a good thing. Just douse your face with some Bay Rum or Clubman after the shave, and everything will be fine. LOL!

BTW, a little Neosporin can't hurt, either.

I personaly dont like the alcohol aftershaves, there is no need for inquisition methods on your face. I use AloeVera gel.

I just use an unscented hand sanitizer as an aftershave. It's alcohol-based, doesn't smell like a cheap aftershave, it's much cheaper than an expensive aftershave, it's easy to dispense, so it's the perfect solution (for me at least).
Uthed: eh? right back at ya buddy

Barbacide also makes the cool barbershop jars they clean combs in. I just got a small one, 8 1/2" tall that easily fits a few razors. You lift the tray insert a few razors and aquick dunk and all clean. It contains an anti rust additive so should not pose a problem.
