Likewise! Definitely good to see some familiar faces.

Meet up good... better if there's beer involved.

The idea occurs to me that, were there a workshop or class on Straight shaving, I'd sign up.

I wonder if Parks and Recreation would be interested? Maybe a couple of knowledgeable Calgary Shaver Dudes could share the labour.

So much of getting this art is experiential.

I wonder if it would stimulate interest.

Just a thought for you other Calgary fellows.

    LOL

    Yeah, just in case.

Actually, if there's to be any interactive component, as I envision would be most helpful with some components (stropping, shaving), can you imagine the waiver this calls for?!

    Hey Brenton,

How are the shaves coming? The fact that
you're still around is a good sign...

    Yo, Scott!

Sunday, for the first time, I did everything but the chin and, pretty much 2 passes while at it. More or less a WTG and ATG effort, though, I confess it was not close, and I went to my DE after to tidy things up.

Day before that, though, I did get very close with just the straight on the cheeks.

So, yeah, I'm workin' at it.

It really does enhance the morning ritual to have these nice quality shaving implements, and for it to demand a bit of skill from the practitioner. Of course, already being members of this choir, I hardly have to preach that sermon, but I'm sure enjoying the discovery.

Thanks again for sharpening up my blade, Scott, and for all your great info on getting "stoned" . . . honingly speaking, of course.

Just wait until you hit that moment when you realize that you've just had a better shave than any of your past DE shaves. When I started out, I couldn't imagine how people were getting BBS shaves. It's such a cool journey.

The lot of us Calgary folk need to get out for a beer.

There is a good chance that the best razor I have I bought from Scott. I can attest that it was properly honed. Knowing Scott honed your razor is pretty much a guarantee it was done right. That is the beginning of the learning process of straight shaving.
    Have fun

It's a really nice razor, I gotta say. Looks great, feels great to handle it. The fixation has surely begun -- sometimes I strop it while watching t.v., just for "fun."

Hey, I think it's a great idea for the Calgary contingent to meet up for a brew.

    Count me in.

Or, does someone need to spearhead this? Suggest a venue, and time?

    Hey Brian,

Any estimate on how long it'll take to get to that level of closeness? I mean, I believe it's possible, cause I keep hearing it's true, but it's pretty hard to imagine getting there from where I am.

Still, so far, no nicks with the straight -- I'm not that eager to get subcutaneously close!
