Default If you were traveling to Germany what would be on your buy list?

OK, I am a newbie here and to straight razor shaving. SRS fits my style as I enjoy most anything old and done by hand..the old way. I relaod my own bullets, shoot black powder guns, truly rough it when I camp..you get the picture. Enough with the introduction.
I already made the dumb mistake of buying a Pakistani razor and found of course it did not shave worth a @#$%#@.
I just returned from the local antique store armed with my "good razor" list and came home with some real gems. After merely stropping these blades I had a fantastic "dry toast" shave. What a country!

    Now for the question:
I am traveling to Germany next week and have two weeks to hob knob around. Are there any "holy grails" of straight razor shaving you would recommend I look for? Perhaps it would be items not available in the USA or maybe something that could be purchased for far less in Germany.

    Thanks in advance.

    Default Germany

    Gruss Gott!

Meine Frau ist auch von Deutchland gekommen, besonderer Bavaria. Iher familia lebt immer noch im Selbitz.

My German is very rusty but I consol myself that I at least try. It would be nice to travel to Berlin. Iwas there once before the wall came down. I had quite an experience with the East German border guards...being an American.

    Bestof luck to you,

    Scratch

well if I was going to Germany I would be contacting Oskar about one of his mugs and then I would be visiting the Sinn factory and get me a nice watch at bargain prices.

Oh, are we talking about shaving?

Sir Irisch Moos shave stick. Maybe some Tabac, if I saw it, though the prices won't be that much lower than you can get it online.

    • Speick wetshaving & hygiene products
    • Palmolive shaving cream & shaving sick

When I lived in Germany, the prices of these products were "peanuts" compared to ordering online or from a B&M store (if they even carried them). For example, I could get the Palmolive shave stick for 0.75 Euro. And, these products are usually carried by the local supermarkets.

Yes, I will definitely be imbibing some of the best. My brother in laws over there have what they like to call "training" in that department. Beer is one of my "other" hobbies. I brew it at home several times per year.
