Don't know if this has been mentioned before but here goes:

Always respect the razor as you respect all sharp and potentialy dangerous things. If you forget to respect the razor by getting to much at ease with it (and don't confuse this with being proficient with the razor), you will forget where it is at any given moment of the shave. The result can be quite bloody... Be aware of the location of the blade in relation to the rest of your body, paying extra atention to your fingers and your face. A straight is much sharper that any surgical instrument and will cut with great ease and without any pain. Take my word for it. The 6 stiches on my left index finger are the evidence that what I wrote here is true... And if you enjoy cooking, after you prove yourself that these are very sharp - via a nasty cut, not a "nick" - do resist the temptation to slice tomatoes. The caprese will be fabulous but the blade will be ruined after that... get a warped DA or a Wapy for that. Much better value for money...
