HE STARTED ON IT

It will take some time, but it sounds like you are on the right track. Sometimes JoeD works on a difficult one for a while then switches to something else and comes back the the hard on the next day. or at least a couple of hours later. Good luck and happy honing :gl:

Yes, you will! It took me a while to learn to build a decent lather. I kept doing it anyway, and one day....WAAAALAAAAA I had LATHER fit for a queen!

I think maybe it's just going to take a while on the stone. I was going about it wrong before, and the tips JoeD gave me have made a world of difference.

Considering improper technique, I've really only tried to hone it once. The first 2 times don't count.

Now that the bevel is even, I think I'll be able to get it sharp. I was just getting it to bite into my thumbnail evenly towards the end of last nights session, so I probably just didn't give myself enough time. I'm persistent, but I have a short fuse. I will see this through to the end...I'll just rant, rave, and curse the whole way there. :)

Thanks Rob, I will definitely keep that in mind. Even if I do manage to get this thing shaving sharp, if you've got spare time I think it would definitely be worth a trip just for the learning experience.

I still have several other razors I haven't even touched yet beyond an initial polish.
