Default This Mornings Crash Proved I'm An SRP Junkie

I couldn't believe it . I was going through withdrawal symptoms, sweating along with chills, shaking and muscle aches. You don't miss your water until the well runs dry.

Same here. This site is something I can surf from work w/o issue as my PC churns the latest code I wrote. Hitting the news sites gets old after the second time around and EBay, well you know...

not compiled, database code. I need smaller datasets, clean data, faster CPU and as always, more ram. With most database work the data is never in the form needed for reporting and has to be twisted, bent, churned, heated, frozen, dried then steamed and dried again before it can be used to produce the results asked for. Three are ways to do this once and be done with it but that doesn't fit the business plan. Not complaining just the way it is.

There are packages called 'ETL' that can do all of the folding and bending of data and pump it into a data warehouse, I know...

I'm not the DBA, so you would know better than
I, but denormalization is a common technique
for reducing joins and optimizing queries at the
expense of write and space performance.

Since I can't control myself with the amount of time I spent on SRP, I'll say that I got more work done when the system was down that I have in a long time. Ugh, that's not something that I'm proud to admit.

Yeah I was compulsively checking it wondering what had happened!

Too bad we lost this morning's posts
