Thread: Thanks; Met Alan

Hey everyone,

As a newbie to straight razor shaving, I just wanted to express my gratitude to all who have offered advice and to say how great a site this is, with the easily referenced wiki and forums. Today I met Alan (AFDavis11) who offered additional advice and who is an all-around great guy. He was able to confirm that the razor I purchased from Straight Razor Designs is as sharp as it gets, and that I need more practice in using the razor. Alan was kind enough to donate a practice razor and wooden block sharpener as a way to help me get acquainted with sharpening by using more than just the leather and linen strops. Thanks again to all, and especially to Alan.

Good for you and welcome to SRP! It is always a nice treat when you are very new to meet up a local and talk with them in person, I had the same great experience you did with someone in my area.

Thanx Mike. It was fun meeting you too. It was cool having the entire restuarant to ourselves for straight razor discussions. It was the smallest "Get-together" yet I suppose.

I hope you get the chance to share in your learning curve with the crew.
