    Default Got my Bengall today from the classifieds!

    Why was it wet thought? Is that some type of oil or....?

    Yes, it will be a protective oil. Wipe it off before shaving.

    Probably oil to keep it from rusting. Carbon steel will rust at the mere site of water.

    Just rinse the oil off and shave away

    Am I supposed to oil it up periodically to prevent rust?

    depends on how much you use it and what part of the country your in. My rotation only gets dried well and put away. Razors I store get oiled and so far no rust!

    Bengall is a thoroughly British razor that gives excellent shaves. I am sure it will fast become one of your favorite razors. Maybe you would like to have a look over here, Bengall's Band of Brothers - Straight Razor Place Forums
