Thanked: 234People have stropped DE blades for a long time, though.
I have a strop for a DE.
Mine is bakelite I think, but they used to make them out of glass also.

Thanked: 1262if you are going to go through the expense of buying a strop, just get a normal straight.
You can attempt to strop a shavette and still have to replace the blade after X shaves.
Or strop a regular straight and have great shaves every day.

But (a) they were made of uncoated carbon steel back then so no anti-friction coatings for the strop to scrape off and (b) the shavette uses *half* a DE blade, which is no longer stroppable using a DE strop because the width is too small and there tends to be bent bits of blade where it was snapped, which will scratch the heck out of your glass/bakelite strop.
