Thanked: 1Sweeny Todd
Hi,
Anyone here ever seen the musical "Sweeny Todd; The Demon Barber of Fleet Street?" It's a cool show.
Best wishes,
Mike

Thanked: 0Yes, I saw it when I was in college. I liked it so much, its now my favorite play, and I grabed one of their promo posters.
I consider it a "must see live" if you can show.... that is if moderate adult content doesn't bother you. :P

Actually, Music Theatre International, the company who owns the rights to this show, lists it as ideal for High Schools! I don't know if I'd have the nerve to try it at my school, but there are indeed some that do it.
Best wishes,
Mike

Thanked: 0playing in Seattle
I just looked to see what they meant by suitable for High School, and saw it is playing in Seattle at the end of Oct.
As I recall (it was several years ago when I saw it) the show included lots of innuendo, and adult humor, in addition to murder, cannibalism, and lots o' Dark humor. correct me if I'm wrong here.
The licenser also has it listed as a "R" rating. I don't know where they thought it would be suitable for HS without much editing.
Mike where are you? Perhaps those of us in the Pac NW could turn the play into a SRP meet & Great/convention?

I don't know either. I don't think it would fly at my school. Still, there are high schools around with fairly ambitious and liberal theatre programs. They probably generate that list from past rental history, so it's possible that several have done it. It's a great show! Matbe we should adopt it as the unofficial musical of the Straight Razor Place.

I'm in Ohio, so I don't think I'll be making any quick trips to the Pacific NW anytime soon. Apart from Lynn, I don't know how many SRP guys are in Ohio, but I do like the idea of a get-together. Someone else mentioned about the possibility of having some regional ones.
Best wishes,
Mike
