Have been shaving with a Shavette for the past 1.5-2 years. Just made the long desired leap to a real straight razor. 5/8" Dovo Special purchased from Ray, sent to Lynn for honing, with Tony Miller's 4 sided strop in the mail. Should keep me sorted initially... will acquire 1.0 and 0.5 diamond pastes as well as a 4000/8000 Norton stone a little later to try my hand at honing. Can't wait

Sounds like you're on top of your game.
What are those four sided strops like and what are they like to use? Can you describe it for me?

I remember when I first purchased my Shavette that Ray said I might find the edge too aggressive for everyday use (that has certainly been the case). Especially given I use the ultra-sharp Feather platinum razor blades.

I am very much looking forward to a Lynn honed razor with a hand made strop to see what I've been missing out on.

Tony suggested it to me. Two of the sides are intended for use with diamond strop pastes, two of the sides are intended for regular use. I'm no expert, but my understanding is that the diamond pasted sides can be used to bring an edge back up to speed, as step in between honing and stropping. The two normal stropping sides have one coarser leather (similar to a linen strop) and one smoother leather side (for final stropping).
