cant edit posts?

can we not edit posts any more?
i know it can help keep people from hacking up threads, but its super useful... sometimes i post a question and then see that its already answered and i dont want to look stupid.... also, sometime i misspell like crazy and dont have time to edit until later

also i tend to go on offtopic rants that i dont edit until i see how out of place it is in the thread
**weird my edit button is back now... maybe i can only edit in certain topics.....yep.... i saw that my question in the announcements was already answered and i cant amend it... weird

Your post says it was edited today, so obviously you can edit posts. However, I think there's a time limit (like until it gets archived) after which the post can no longer be edited.

True. And you saw that he edited, but did you read his edit?
