    Default Handle material I.D.

How can one tell the difference between a celluloid handle and a more modern plastic handle, especially without knowing the age of the razor?

And what exactly is a composition handle?

Celluloid is pretty fragile stuff. Just a dose of real hot water is sometimes enough to affect the finish. I find that the stuff has a a kind of smell to it and if you use a dremmel to polish (very gingerly) it emits a very strong oder which is unmistakeable. Plastic or bakelite is harder and doesn't have that kind of odor unless you heat it up and it starts to burn of course.
