    Hello gents.

I remember this thread I started a year ago:
    http://straightrazorpalace.com/newbi...ace-shave.html

About my first full face shave with a straight razor.

This means I've been cartridge/shaving goo free for a year now.

    - I still don't shave ATG, but it's ok. My skin just don't like ATG, even with a DE (ok, I'm not 100% straight shaver, I'm still too slow).
    - I still have difficulties with my chin area, and around my Adam Apple.
    - I have shaving products for the remaining of my 20s :P
    - I want a wide wedge!
    - I still can't get good shaves from my DD dwarf
    - I think I'll get a better badger brush to celebrate

I suspect your razor isn't sharp enough, or your stropping is is sub-par (or both).

Ducks are great shavers and if both of the above are in order, you should not have any problems going ATG.

I would send the duck off to one of our honers in the classifieds, then I would read everything in the Wiki on stropping.

    Good luck,

    Steve

The duck IS honed. Floppyshoes took care of it.

As for the stropping, with my other 4 razors I'm fine. Maybe narrow razors are just not for me.

As for the ATG, it's more about my skin than my technique, I don't really care for BBS anyway (neither does SWMBO).

    EDIT: My other razors are:
    - 11/16 Torrey (my great grandfather's), almost wedge
    - 5/8 Waterville, also almost wedge
    - 5/8 Tonsor Bengall
    - 6/8 DA

I get better shaves from wide or almost wedges blades. The DD is narrow and hollow.

Congrats on your 1st year ! The chin is tricky , but more experience will make it easier . Don't expect to get it all in one pass . I've been shaving with straight razors only (I really don't want to shave with anything else) for over two years , and it still takes 3 passes for me to get my chin smooth . I also don't worry about getting BBS . I really don't want to shave THAT close .
