    Default Introductions

Well I couldn't find any introductions sections for the noobs to say hi so I thought I'd start one.
My name is Jason. 30 yo military and currently deployed to Iraq. I used to go to barbers that would use a straight razor and I loved the feel and the closeness of the shave. It was a relaxing zen thing for me. Well long story short the Barber shop I was going to before deployment turned into a "Beauty Salon" Which didn't matter much because last time I was here all the barbers used them so I was looking forward to it. Turns out no-one here uses straights anymore So I finally decided to take the plunge and get a good strop and razor. Now it's just a waiting game for the mail to get here. Could take up to 2 months. But I know it'll be worth it. Got lots of great info from the forums and wiki. Also informed the medics that I may need stitches soon lol.

    Welcome to SRP!

What razor and strop combo did you order? What brush, soap, or cream will you be using?

Welcome and thank you for your service.

There is a newbie section in the forum that you can use to ask questions and to let us know how much business you've given the medics lol. What type of razor and strop did you order and is it coming professionally sharpened? (the razor not the strop) Shave ready usually isn't quite sharp enough. Be patient when learning to use a str8 (Barbers make it look easy but they have been at it a long time). Str8 shaving is an art all to itself and there is much satisfaction in a bbs shave. Again welcome and hope to hear from you again soon.

Thank you for helping in Iraq and welcome to SRP. Let me see if we can do anything from this end.

Well I had to order everything seperate. There are quite a few places that don't ship to Iraq. And since I had some issues I had to use paypal. I read the review page first so I got an El Toro Strop from RupRazor, a Dovo razor from Emsplace, but for lather I went modern with a shave package from Zirh that has preshave oil, shaving cream, post shave lotion, and a razor burn treatment.

Right now I have plenty of hot water but the mail here's been kinda sketchy. We went 3 weeks without any mail coming in And when it did my whole section here only got 2 boxes and no letter mail.
