    Default Anyone have experience...

with this product? Does anyone else use it, do you use it with soap or by itself? Does it work well or should I stick with my good SRD soap?

I would try the soap on its own first...

Here is something you should try.....

Have olive oil in your house? Go grab some and try it on your face...

I have a homemade shave oil i never use. It is a mixture of Olive Oil & Castor oil, with a few drops of essential oil to make it smell better.

On days when I'm in a rush I use the Shave Secret oil with my trusty Gillette Slim in the shower. It provides an ok shave, but it doesn't compare to the shave provided by my DD and HBS soaps.

I use it all the time. It does shave well enough on it's own but I always apply it first then lather with soap/cream.

If you watch the feed from the SE meet, Simon used it before shaving David and Joe.

I haven't used that particular product, but I have made and used the stuff Ben was talking about. The only thing it did for me was create more of a job to clean the brush out than anything else. I suppose something like you are asking about might be ok in a pinch, but I still haven't found anything that can replace a good HOT towel for prep.

Its equivalent to my Castille Soap which is cheaper by the oz.than shave secret and more versatile. As a preshave oil, it works for Straight Shaving. As a shaving soap for straight shaving - no.

I hear of a lot of users finding substitutes for pre-shave oil, but the shaving soaps and creams designed for Straight Shaving are superior.

Thanks everyone. I only planned on using it as a pre-shave oil. Never alone.
