    Default Trade/Barter

So Holli4Pirating's recent thread kind of moved me to post this, something I've been wondering about recently. Is there much trading going on around here? I haven't noticed any...On a couple of other forums have pretty open trading, and it works well I think.

I mean, sure we can sell razors, but the money most people get is only going into other wetshaving equipment so it would cut out a couple of steps if we just traded, right?

So what about setting up a new classifieds section just for trading? It wouldn't need to be divided for item because you can trade across classifications, for ex. trading a razor for soaps, creams or brushes, etc.

It might work better as a forum thread, though, being more open to negotiation/adjustment. Anyway, just something I was thinking about...

I second this suggestion. Some of my most satisfying transactions involved a trade rather than a sale/purchase.

That actually sounds very good. Its just a matter of working out the trade per say I suppose.

Another option would be to allow WTB/WTTF or FS/FT instead of just WTB and FS in the classifieds. The communication could go on via PM, which I think is more appropriate than in the open forum (though maybe that's just me).

+1 on the trading and bartering thing.
I do kindof like the idea, of having a seperate section for it, though. Be cool to be able to just list a whole bunch of stuff at once and let people pick through it and maybe pm ya for trading options?
Whats cool too, is that paypal doesnt get a percentage of the transaction either.

I'd suggest that you at least put up a general idea of what you're interested in trading for, otherwise you might end up with a huge list of offers of things you have no interest in.

I think its a good idea as well. Just have the drop downs like holli4pirating suggested, if you just want to trade and not sell you could specify in your ad. I don't think it would be complicated, people do it on other forums all the time.

Actually very simple, you just say WTT: This Product for That Product

    Or, FS/T: This Product

Then in the description you say will sell for $, or trade for X. The interested parties respond by PM, and/or comments/general questions can be posted.

Take a look at the way it's done day in and day out on SMF, B&B, and TSD. It's not complicated at all. Each party pays shipping costs going out the door, and usually, when your product is sent you notify the other party by PM, with tracking # or whatever. The other party does the same. It's cool.
